Verdant Retreats Publication

For my Visual Communication course, I designed Verdant Retreats, a print magazine that explores the calming relationship between people and plants. The publication focuses on indoor gardening as a form of mindfulness — blending practical knowledge with elegant, nature-inspired composition.
Every page was built around softness, balance, and clarity, echoing the serenity that greenery brings into our homes.

Design Approach

The layouts were developed to feel open and breathable, using generous white space, rounded photo frames, and subtle leaf motifs to guide the reader’s eye. I aimed to create harmony between imagery and typography — allowing the design itself to feel like part of a garden’s rhythm.

Final Design

The final magazine includes a complete cover and two feature spreads: Plants Decoded and Thriving Greens. Together, they balance instruction and inspiration — offering visual calm through consistent grid alignment, soft textures, and a refined color palette. From articles about choosing the right plants to tips for repotting and care, the design captures a quiet narrative of growth and renewal. The finished mockups highlight how typography, imagery, and composition can work together to communicate stillness and life.
